Most people have a basic understanding of how blackjack works, whether or not they play games. But if you haven't fully learned it, then the misunderstanding of blackjack is easy. You need to focus as close as possible to 21-point and the dealer will not help you.

A few years ago, when I started playing blackjack, I made some major mistakes. One of the biggest ones is that my main strategic goal should be to do everything 21 or close to 21.

Here are some of the mysteries I have done in this quest:

Ignore the dealer's upcard.
At the time of trying to reach 21, hit 12-14 each time.
When I chased the elusive 21, I did not consider the favorable splitting opportunities.
I later discovered that I am not the only one who started this misguided path. In fact, this is one of the most common blackjack myths.

I got into this trap because one of the few things I know is that the player closest to 21 didn't break the victory. But what I didn't take into account is that the dealer must draw hard or soft 17 (depending on the rules of the table).

This means that it is advantageous to keep a bad total like 13 in some cases. Although this is not close to 13, if they are 4-6, you still have a chance to beat the dealer.
